Make Flex Worth It

PictureWant to know your flex balance? Just look towards the bottom for your current balance.
It is now the middle of our fall semester, and it is so easy to lose track of how many flex dollars you have left, but it is also just as easy to keep track and maximize your flex so you can save money during your time at Maryville College! There are many ways to make the most of your flex too!

One of many ways to maximize your flex is to ask for a receipt after making a purchase using your flex dollars. Your flex balance will be located on the bottom of your receipt. By keeping track, you can be prepared to buy more flex dollars if needed when our flex sale comes around in November! Keeping track of how much flex you use can also prepare you for the upcoming school year. If you know how much flex you normally use, you can prepare by purchasing the appropriate package for yourself when you are buying next year’s meal plan. If you use more flex than you purchased, you can save money by buying a bigger flex plan and saving money overall by bundling it all at once.

Some students are not as big on spending though, and sometimes do not use all of their flex by the end of the semester, but lucky for them, because flex dollars do carry over to spring semester, so you have plenty more time to take advantage of the flex that you have purchased! Just make sure that it all gets spent by the end of the year, or your money spent will go to waste, as flex dollars do not carry over to the next school year!

It is crucial that students keep track and budget their flex in order to make the most of it and not waste any of the money they have spent on flex dollars, or not spend more than they have to by planning ahead when purchasing next year’s flex. Stay aware of your balance and you will always be ahead of the game!

It takes a plethora of people to accomplish the many tasks around a busy establishment like Metz Maryville. There is no one person more important than another here. A place like this cannot run without every worker here. On this Food Service Worker Day, we at Metz Maryville would like to celebrate all our wonderful workers who keep this place in proper shape.

We would like to show appreciation for our workers in the dish room, like Ken and Sophie, who keep service running smoothly and consistently by keeping our dishes clean. We appreciate our student workers, like Shelby and Ralph, who dedicate time in their busy schedules to assist us here at Metz. We appreciate our lovely workers in the front of the house at the greeter’s stand, Ms. Daisy and Ms. Debbie, for always putting on a smile and making our guests feel welcome in our establishment.

We also thank all our lovely food service workers, from those in the back of the house to those who interact with our guests daily. Thanks to our chefs, Geoff and Steve, who consistently produce quality food that keeps guests coming back. Thanks to our caterers, Melissa and Kim, for getting our name out there in the community and bringing in new, happy guests. Thanks to the many servers across our extensive buffet, such as our servers, Delores and Mila, our deli workers, Emily and Eduardo, our pizza professionals; TK, Marisa, and Tyler, and our grill & exhibition culinary professionals; Ezra, Melinda, and Manny. Finally, we appreciate our staff, Tyler and Maddie, who work to keep the lobby looking clean and professional to give off a great first impression to first-time guests and to keep them coming back for more.

This is by no means all our staff here at Metz, but it is tough to narrow down and choose just one when all of the staff here at Metz Maryville are necessary to keep our kitchen running smoothly. We make it known to our staff that their positions are just important as the next employee’s. We celebrate our lovely food-service workers year-round, not just on Food Service Worker Day. These are the folks that keep our dining hall moving like a busy village.
